Rendering Deer Fat to make Tallow for Soap - Blogger

10/03/2013·Deer tallow combined with olive oil makes the most moisturizing bar. Step 1. Trim any large chunks of meat from the fat. Don't worry about little bits. I run the fat through the meat grinder. It doesn't require a meat grinder, but the smaller the pieces the quicker the fat melts. Step 2. Add several inches of water to a large pot. I used my water bath canner on a turkey fryer outside in the ...

Deer Tallow - PaleoPlanet

27/12/2015·I use deer tallow to oil my bark/acorn tan hides as well. It helps to brush it on lightly as a liquid and work it in hard and fast as it dries. In the last few years most of my deer tallow has gone towards soap. It doesn't really have a scent if you're using very clean tallow with some additives to give it a nice smell. I've used finely chopped ...

13/10/2014·So. Bottom line. If you want to eat your deer fat, I’d follow these guidelines: Save it from deer that had been eating nice grasses, grains or acorns. Remove it in deer from sagebrush or sketchy areas. Toss the suet unless you want to make candles, soap or feed the birds. Slice off any fat that was exposed to air after you’ve hung the carcass.

04/12/2017·And you can use the same percentage of your deer tallow as you would lard (50% is fine) - just run it through a soap calc to get the right amount of lye. Deer or venison tallow should be listed as an oil. I haven't made a deer tallow soap, but I'm pretty confident that you shouldn't have trouble with 50% being too hard of a soap.

The best, hardest tallow comes from sheep or beef, and the organ fats called suet. Tallow soap has many wonderful qualities to recommend it, such as a hard, long-lasting bar and creamy lather. It has similar qualities in soap as palm oil. It can also be very emollient ...

Soap & Restless: Myth about Beef Tallow Soap

01/02/2013·I have also gotten deer fat from the same butcher (I hear tell that people do not like the taste of deer fat) and rendered it down. It makes a very hard bar and I like it better than beef tallow (but deer season is over until next year, darn!) I don't smell anything with either tallow after curing. I think lard is softer than beef or deer tallow.

25/09/2004·I looked up some soap recipes that use tallow. It seems that most of them suggest combining tallow with olive oil and/or coconut oil. Several recipes had all three ingredients listed in equal proportions. You might want to run a google search on it yourself.
